Trek the Great Wall

Exotic, Iconic, Mystical

Great Wall of ChinaOne of mankind’s greatest achievements - and the most enduring symbol of ancient China

THE EVENT
Silk Steps has been privileged to send charity challenge groups to the Great Wall for more than a decade. Our experience and knowledge of China, and in working with fundraising groups, has ensured huge successes for those participating and for the nominated good causes.

We draw upon a wealth of experience and contacts built up over a number of years. This translates into a greater knowledge on the ground of how things operate and a wealth of cultural knowledge which can be passed on to your participants to make their trip more enjoyable and memorable.

This is our most popular challenge event - and with good reason. Everybody has heard of the Great Wall of China and harbours a desire to see it at some point in their life. The walk takes place in the mountains north of Beijing, where some of the best preserved and most spectacular sections of the entire 2,500-mile long structure can be found.

The Great Wall never fails to astonish visitors, snaking spectacularly along the mountain ridges that separate China from Mongolia. Although the wall is only a relatively short distance from Beijing, visitors are amazed by the contrast between urban areas and the quiet countryside surrounding it, providing a unique opportunity to experience and enjoy both.

The sections of the wall are deliberately chosen to ensure participants of all abilities can complete the walk and gain personal satisfaction from their achievement.

The event includes five days of walking, together with a day free in Beijing at the end of the trip.

THE ORGANISATION
We pride ourselves on a friendly and attentive relationship with our clients, and one of the main advantages of dealing with a smaller company like Silk Steps is that you receive a personalised service. Our staff have been on many challenge events to the Great Wall so will be able to advise you and answer any questions based on their personal experiences.

We realise that your success is our success and this involves a lot of vital organisation beforehand. It is in this area that we excel in helping and guiding you through the workload. The advantages of having our support are priceless, allowing you to concentrate more on the fundraising without getting bogged down in administration. In addition, we provide training guidelines, kit list and an information booklet, including route map, to all participants.

If you are interested in operating your own charity event, then give us a call to discuss how we could work with you to make the event a successful one. Alternatively, we are operating two open group departures in 2010, which anyone can join and raise funds for a nominated charity.
